How Gold IRA Companies Make Money

Understand dealer spreads, markups, product economics, and why account fees may be charged by different parties.

A precious-metals dealer can earn money from the difference between acquisition cost and the price at which metal is sold. Depending on the company and product, compensation can be reflected in spreads or markups rather than a separately labeled commission.

The IRA custodian and depository are separate businesses and can charge their own account, transaction and storage fees.

Why this matters

Two providers can both claim “no commission” while still producing different total economics. Compare the actual buy price, current repurchase price, and complete account/storage fee schedule.
